poker chips
David G asked:

My buddy and I have never really played poker before, but we want to start a small monthly poker night with some friends. I bought a poker game set with four decks of cards and 600 chips. Cool, but neither of us knows how much each chip is worth by color (200 white, 140 red, 100 green, 100 blue, and 60 black). And the “big blind” and “little blind” chips? What the hell are those?

In Las Vegas, the white would be the $1.00 chips, the red $5.00, the Green $25.00 the Black $100.00 the blue would be .50 cents each

Oh dear, knowing what the big blind chips and small blind chips are is kinda important but as far as the other chips are concerned they are worth as much as you want them to be worth. If you play with a million dollars then the white chips might be worth 5000 each but if you play with 20 dollars then the white chips could be worth 25cents.

Normally I’d assign the lowest denomination to the chips which were most plentiful, so white would come first and then red etc…

Your chips can be whatever amount you want. When we play a home game, we don’t use whites. Red-5, Blue-10, Green-20, Black-50
We don’t use our little blind or big blind button, only the dealer button. The person to the left of the dealer button is the small blind and the person next to that person is the big blind. These are forced bets. You can get the complete rules for hold ‘em online.
